Shanghai lockdown: Residents protest after five weeks of strict zero-Covid measures

To protest the government-imposed lockdown in Shanghai, residents have been shouting and banging their pans from their windows.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in China, the Chinese government has pursued a zero-Covid strategy with the goal of keeping the country completely Covid-free.

China is not known for its harsh criticisms of the government, but many residents have complained that they are having difficulty accessing food and others have had to be evacuated temporarily so they can be cleaned.
