Britain says Russia struggles to sustain effective offensive combat

British military intelligence stated on Tuesday (19 juillet) that Russia has had difficulty maintaining effective offensive combat power ever since its invasion of Ukraine. The problem is likely to get worse.

In an intelligence update, the Ministry of Defence stated that Russian planners are faced with a dilemma when it comes to deploying reserves in the Donbas and defending against counterattacks from the Ukrainians in the southwestern Kherson sectors.

The ministry stated that Russia could still make territorial gains but their operational pace and rate of advancement is likely to be slow.
