On the first day, a meeting with Kazakhstan President Kassym Jomart Tokayev will take place.
On the second day of the tour, the head of Roman Catholic Church will meet with religious leaders. He will also participate in the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions’ opening and plenary sessions.
Pope Francis will also celebrate a Holy Mass for thousands of Roman Catholics and pilgrims to the Kazakh capital.
He will meet with priests, nuns and seminarians of Roman Catholic Church Kazakhstan and neighboring countries on the final day of his visit.
Pope John Paul II visited Kazakhstan previously on September 22nd and 25th 2001. The Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions takes place every three years in Kazakhstan’s capital. Pope Francis was the first to confirm his attendance.
