The woman who taught the West how to cook Indian food

The BBC broadcast a groundbreaking Indian cooking programme 40 years ago. Madhur Jaffrey, an Indian actor and food writer, presented it.

“Madhur Jaffery’s Indian Cookery” was the first UK-based mainstream series on Indian food. It also featured the first Indian host. It also reached a large audience. It was a huge success immediately and made the presenter a household name.
