Hungary to meet all commitments made to unlock EU funds, minister says

Education, Culture, Youth and Citizenship European Commissioner-designate Tibor Navracsics of Hungary addresses the European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education, at the EU Parliament in Brussels 1 October, 2014.

Hungary pledged on Sunday (18 September) to fulfill all its European Commission funding commitments after an EU executive suggested suspending some 7.5 million euros in EU funding for Hungary due to corruption.

Tibor Navracsics (the EU’s development minister) stated that he hopes Hungary’s actions will convince the EU Commission to implement sufficient safeguards to protect EU funds.
