Three people killed by lightning in Bulgarian capital

3 people were struck by lightning in a park in central Sofia. Another man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a thunderstorm late Tuesday night.

According to medical officials, the victim was suffering from 20% burns and was of Syrian descent. The victims, according to local media reports, were also Syrians. However, the interior ministry spokesperson stated that they are still being identified.

According to meteorologists, more than 800 lightning bolts struck Sofia on Tuesday night. Heavy rain also flooded the capital’s centre, cutting electricity in some suburbs and villages.
