White House’s Sullivan meets Ukraine’s Yermak in Istanbul, pledges US support

Jake Sullivan, US national defense adviser, met with Andriy Yermak on Sunday, the head of Ukraine’s presidential office. They pledged Washington’s steadfast support to Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political independence, the White House stated.

Adrienne Watson, spokesperson of the White House’s National Security Council said that the two discussed the current situation at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant and Ukraine’s ongoing work with the United Nations in order to export food to other countries.

Yermak spoke about the Telegram meeting, in which he expressed gratitude for the United States’ military support and stated that the two sides had discussed additional security assistance.

Yermak stated that he noticed “the Kremlin’s decision not to recognize the referendums conducted in the temporarily occupied areas requires an immediate response from the international community”.
