Azeri embassy vehicle shot at in Washington, D.C.

Unknown gunmen suspected of supporting Armenia opened fire on a vehicle of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Washington, D.C.

The incident was immediately reported by the Azerbaijan diplomatic missions to the U.S. agencies concerned. The camera footage was then presented as such. The charge d’affaires of America in Azerbaijan were invited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss the matter. There were serious concerns and dissatisfaction expressed and the U.S. requested that security be ensured for the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Recent concerns include the systematic nature and acts of vandalism and attacks on diplomatic missions of Azerbaijan from radical Armenian members in foreign countries.

Under international convention, the host country is responsible for ensuring the security of diplomatic missions abroad.
