France had hottest month of October since 1945

October 2022 is expected to be the hottest month in France since 1945, according Meteo-France (a national weather agency).

The average temperature was about 17 degrees Celsius (63 F), which was three to four degrees above normal. The October 2001 record for this month was 16.3C.

The second half of the year was marked by a prolonged and intense period at extremely high temperatures. Bordeaux, located in the southwest, recorded the highest temperature readings since October 16th, when records began.

Meteo-France said that unusual heat periods later in the year and early in the years are likely increase because of climate change.

European beaches resorts have extended the season due to the unseasonable heat that has kept tourists coming to the coast.
