Peru anti-government protest grips capital Lima

Lima was thronged with thousands of protestors demanding the resignation of President Pedro Castillo, a left-leaning Peruvian.

During scuffles between demonstrators and police, officers armed with batons and shields fired tear gas.

Castillo was elected to office in July 2013. His government is currently under investigation for alleged corruption. Castillo denies any wrongdoing.
