On Sunday 6 November, the Ukrainian army attacked Russia with the massive destruction civilian vessels moored on the banks of the Dnipro River in Kherson’s occupied south region. They are being taken by Kyiv’s forces.
The Ukrainians have put pressure on Russian troops at the western bank Dnipro that runs through Ukraine. Rumours have been circulating that Moscow’s troops are retreating to the opposing side.
The spokesperson for the Ukrainian General Staff said that fuel from the vessels damaged had leaked into the Delta. Moscow was also accused of taking engines and other equipment.
The Ukrainian General Staff didn’t provide any explanations for Moscow’s actions. If the Russian withdraws, the destruction of civilian vessels will stop Ukrainian forces using them.
This was part of a pattern of rising tension in the region. Russian-installed occupation officials declared Sunday that sabotage had cut off power and water supply to Kherson and other settlements.
