Belgian police officer stabbed to death in Brussels – media reports

A police officer in Schaerbeek in north Brussels was stabbed in his neck on Thursday (9/11). Belgian media reported that another was also hurt.

Belgian federal prosecutors, who handle cases of terrorism and organised crime, were not immediately available to confirm media reports on a possible terrorist attack.

Belgian newspaper Le Soir reported the attacker had previously threatened a police station, before being taken to hospital in a mental evaluation.

Alexander De Croo, the Belgian Prime Minster, tweeted today that today’s drama was proof.
