Father and son were reported missing in Albania when their car was caught in a torrent during heavy rains.
According to police, a little girl was inside the car when it was caught in a stream of water and managed to escape.
Albanian police posted on Facebook that “the flow of water took away her brother and father” It also showed rescuers trying to get the car out.
Flood danger forced schools to close and emergency services from Albania began to evacuate residents in Shkoder.
Albania, which relies on hydropower to generate all its electricity, was badly affected by the 2022 drought. The government needed to import more power.
KESH, a state-owned utility producing power, stated that the recent rains had been filling its reservoirs. It also had to release water to keep two of its dams afloat.
Although floods were also felt in neighboring Kosovo, no deaths or other damage was reported.
