After being stowed aboard a ship from Nigeria, three migrants were saved by the Spanish coastguard.
In a photo that was posted by the coastguard on Twitter Monday, the three stowaways are seen perched on the rudders cs oil.
Marine Traffic, a ship-tracking website, reports that the Althini II arrived at Las Palmas on Monday after an 11-day journey starting in Lagos, Nigeria.
According to Coastguard, migrants were brought into port and treated by health services.
The Spanish-owned Canary Islands is popular among African migrants trying to reach Europe. Spanish data shows that the number of migrants by sea to the archipelago has increased 51% over the previous year.
