After his victory over Brazil on penalties, Andrej Pilenkovic, Croatia’s Prime Minister, couldn’t hide his joy Friday night (9/12) at a summit for EU Mediterranean countries.
Plenkovic stated that he felt the “fantastic feeling”. Plenkovic also said that he, eight other leaders, including the French President Emmanuel Macron and Pedro Sanchez (the Spanish prime minister), kept a close eye on the match during breaks at summit in Alicante.
“We all followed one another a bit during the break, then everyone joined in to see the penalties on my smartphone.” He laughed and said it was great fun.
Plenkovic couldn’t hide his happiness at the summit’s conclusion. Plenkovic was accompanied by eight other leaders, who applauded.
He stated, “I’m more focussed on what’s happening at home and who should we play in the semifinals.”
He concluded his speech with a short 37 second speech, “On all matters (raised during summit’s last briefing),” he stated.
After the summit, Plenkovic sang for the Croatian team.
“This group of Croatian players is brilliant, led by Luka Modric, our captain… He said that it was an amazing feeling to be in the semi-finals again and the possibility of reaching the final.
“Croatia and the Croatian people around the world and at home are in a very…good… mood today.”
