Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zilenskiy stated on Sunday (18 December) that Ukraine’s security at its borders was a priority, and that Belarus is ready for any situation with Russia or its ally Belarus.
In his nightly video address, Zelenskiy stated that our top priority is protecting our borders with Russia or Belarus. We prepare for all defense scenarios.
These remarks were made by Zelenskiy on the eve of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit in Belarus. This occurred amid discussion about a possible new offensive by Moscow and suggestions that it might be originated in Belarus.
Zelenskiy appealed for help from the West in building effective air defenses in Ukraine. Bakhmut is an eastern Ukrainian city where there has been fierce fighting.
