Pope Francis appealed for peace in his annual Christmas Day message to the Vatican.
He said, “May the Lord… inspire the minds of all those who are able to silence the thundering of weapons and put an end to this senseless conflict.”
Although the war in Ukraine took up most of his 10 minute speech, he also spoke about “a grave hunger of peace also in other areas and other theatres during this Third World War”.
He cited conflicts and humanitarian crises in Haiti, Myanmar, Haiti and the Middle East.
