Russian military organization Wagner announced Tuesday (10 January), that its forces have taken control of the Soledar, an east Ukrainian mining community. Russian news agencies reported that fighting is continuing.
Ukraine claimed earlier that it had resisted an attack by Russia.
“Wagner units took control of the whole Soledar territory. “A cauldron was constructed in the middle of the city, where urban fighting takes place,” Yevgeny Privozhin, Wagner head, stated, in a statement that was cited Russian agencies.
He stated that “the number of prisoners will be announced tomorrow”, but didn’t give any more details.
