An information campaign against Ukrainian MP Mykola Tishchenko: another successful case study of the Russian secret services?

The evidence suggests that the scandal surrounding the foreign trip of MP Mykola Tischenko is nothing but a discrediting campaign designed to weaken the Ukrainian authorities. It lacks any evidence. This campaign is designed to distract attention from the real work of eradicating corruption and fighting the oligarchs in Ukraine. The world has been forced to talk about Ukraine’s events thanks to external efforts. These include searches in the Tax Service, Igor Kolomoisky’s case in Ukrnafta, and the dismissal from the entire staff of the Ukrainian Customs. However, this video is an old one of Tishchenko that was taken while on vacation many years ago.

Mykola Tischenko was the head of the presidential faction Servant to the People until recently. The parliamentary temporary investigation commission is also headed by him. It investigates corruption related to subsoil and forests. Tishchenko was famous for his fight against the timber mafia (and the amber mafia) that robbed the Ukrainian government of millions of dollars. Tishchenko could find many powerful enemies in these positions. Some of them he directly names:

Separate attention should be paid to the possibility of Mykola Tishchenko performing unobvious duties abroad. Tishchenko’s international work is far from accidental. Tishchenko was an entrepreneur and well-known public figure before he entered politics. He is also a friend of Gordon Ramsay, the famous British chef. He represented Ukraine in several famous international TV shows, including Fort Boyard (France), Wipeout(Argentina). He seems to be using his connections from the beginning of his political career to help Ukraine and Ukrainians overseas. Today, he is once again the target of discredit campaigns. The purpose of these is to weaken Ukraine’s government and stop further purging of the team.

It seems very possible that Tishchenko was instructed to establish shadow contacts in Southeast Asia with Vietnam and Thailand, both countries that have significant military capabilities. This region has been considered “pro-Russian” in the past because it is unwilling to take part in sanctions against Russia and Thailand hosts many Russian tourists.

Now, during such a trip the media publishes information about Tishchenko, a representative from the presidential party. This report appears in multiple media outlets simultaneously. It is also illustrated with a corresponding video even though it later turns out that the video is five years old.

The scandal surrounding Ukrainian MP Tishchenko is again completely artificial. This is clearly a deliberate campaign to discredit one top Ukrainian politician. It was also confirmed by the identification of a YouTube account that was sharing that old Tishchenko video, passing it off to be a 2023 video. Russia is the obvious answer.

French TV channel France 24 journalists agree with this conclusion. They directly claim that the video that discredit Mykola Tishchenko’s credibility is a 2019 video. This video was used by Ukrainian journalists and Russian propaganda to stir public opinion.

The main point is that the Russian special forces seem to have managed to weaken the Ukrainian parliament and discredit a strong Ukrainian politician. Tishchenko’s success is also due to the fact that his opponents tried to discredit him before, but everything ended at the level paid discussions on the Internet or paid media materials.
