Today, 13 February, Kadri SIMSON, Commissioner for Energy, will visit Egypt to discuss global energy security with partners and advance work on the trilateral Memorandum of Understanding between Israel, Egypt, and the EU to support our REPowerEU plan to reduce Europe’s Russian gas imports. To further implement the MoU, which was signed last June, the Commissioner will meet TarekEl Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Egypt and Israel Katz (Minister of Energy of Israel)
The Commissioner will also be attending the Egypt Petroleum Show and ExhibitionStrategic Conference2023 hosted by Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Egyptian President. This event brings together leaders in the African and Mediterranean energy industries to discuss the energy transition. Commissioner Simson, the Egyptian Minister for Petroleum and Mineral Resources, will give a keynote address and take part in a panel discussion titled “Managing supply and demand during volatile times – supporting global economics and energy security”. Amani Abou Zeid, the Commissioner for Energy and Infrastructure at the African Union Commission, will also participate. The Commissioner will meet in Cairo with Minister El Molla as well as Osama Mbarez, Secretary General of EastMed Gas Forum.
