President Metsola led the MEPs in a moment of silence in memory the victims of the earthquakes of Turkiye, Syria at the opening session of the Strasbourg session Plenary session .
Europe stands by the people of Turkiye, Syria, stated President Metsola. He added that the EU’s civil protective mechanism had been activated and that help is being sent. She added that “our thoughts are with those who have been killed, trapped or injured, and all those working tirelessly to save lives.”
Referring to the extraordinary plenary on 9 February, when President Zelenskyy spoke before the European Parliament’s European Parliament, President Metsola stated that his words reminded MEPs of the fact that the war in Ukraine was not only a fight for territory but also a struggle for shared values. She concluded that the European Parliament will continue to stand in total solidarity with Ukraine’s people.

Request from several committees to begin negotiations with the Council and Commission
The plenary website contains decisions made by committees to enter inter-institutional negotiation ( Rule 71.1).
The committees can begin negotiations if they are unable to request a vote in Parliament by tomorrow (14 February) 12:00 midnight.
