Under EU state aid rules the European Commission approved an amendment to Slovenia’s Map for Regional Aid Granting from 1 January 2022 to 31 Dec 2027. This was within the context of the revised Regional Aid Guidelines.
27 Jan 2022 The Commission approved the 2022-2027 Regional Aid Map for Slovenia. The Commission approved the Territorial Just Transition Plans for Slovenia on 12/12/2022. These plans identify territories that are eligible for support from Just Transition Fund (‘JTF’).
These territories are located within regions that are eligible for aid under Articles 107(3)(a), Treaty on Functioning of European Union (so-called “a” areas). This allows aid to be provided to the most economically disadvantaged areas. Today’s amendment to Slovenia’s regional assistance map allows for higher amounts of aid for investments in these territories. The maximum amount of aid for eligible investments in Vzhodna Slovenija will rise from 30% to 40%.
The case number SA.105436 will make the non-confidential decision of today’s decision available (in the States Aid Register), on the Commission’s website. The Competition Weekly eNews lists new publications of state aid decisions in the Official Journal and on the internet.
