Today is 24 February. It has been one year since Russian forces invaded Ukraine. This began a war against aggression that has caused widespread death and destruction. It marks the first year of unwavering Ukrainian resistance. The EU stands in solidarity to Ukraine. This solidarity is unwavering. It manifests itself in financial, military, and political support for the country. However, it also provides everyday support and assistance to Ukrainians fleeing war.
Eurofound, as part of this large-scale support, has actively responded to the crisis. It uses existing data collection tools and monitoring tools, as well as its vast range of research tools, to provide timely analysis of the impact of war on policymakers, stakeholders, and the wider public. This includes analysis of policies to help refugees from Ukraine and measures to reduce the impact of the energy and inflation crisis on citizens. It also covers the first effects of the Ukrainian crisis on EU employment.
Eurofound Executive Director Ivailo Kalfin stressed that support for Ukraine was not limited to political or government level. He said that there is a lot of support from the people of Ukraine, and not only have we seen rapid adaptations by governments and the European Union. This unwavering support speaks volumes about Europe’s values and people.
