Police fire tear gas at Greece train crash protesters

On Wednesday night and Thursday night thousands marched through Greece to protest the collision of two trains, in which many people were killed.

After protesters had gathered outside Hellenic Trains’ headquarters, Riot Police were on the scene.

Demonstrators marched in Thessaloniki (north-eastern city), waving flags and chanting, blaming government neglect for the crash.

Minister from the government said that austerity in Greece during the 2000s’ economic crisis had led to a lack in investment in railways.
