Telegram – Andriy Yarak said they had talked about providing additional assistance to our country, including weapons and ammunition.
Yermak said that he, Oleksii Reznikov, the Ukraine’s Defense Minister, and top general Valeriy Zaluzhnyi were among those present.
Lloyd Austin, the top-ranking military commander Mark Milley, and Jake Sullivan (White House National Security Advisor) represented the other side.
Yermak did not give any details to the U.S. side.
The meeting was held because Kyiv wanted to get enough arms supplies from Western backers (of whom the U.S. is most important), and to mount a counter-offensive in order to retake territory Moscow had taken last January.
Yermak stated that Zelenskiy was present to discuss his views on the liberation of Ukrainian territories occupied by Russia following its invasion 13 months ago.
Yermak stated that he had briefed his allies about the current front situation, combat operations and urgent requirements for the Ukrainian army.
The Russian attack on Bakhmut was stopped by the Ukrainian forces on Friday. This was the scene of Russian-led attempts to advance through eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk, bordering Russia for eight months.
