President Emmanuel Macron requested that the state visit of King Charles III in France be delayed. The Elysee Palace stated that the decision was taken together as next Tuesday will mark the 10th day for pension protests.
Although the trip to Paris and Bordeaux was scheduled to begin on Sunday, violence in France on Thursday was the worst since January protests began.
Buckingham Palace stated that the delay was due to France’s “situation”.
It stated that “Their Majesties are excited about going to France so soon as possible dates can be set.”
After being asked by the French president, the British government stated that the decision was made “with the consent of all parties”.
