Gas pipeline under repair in Siberia catches fire -Tass

Pelym lies approximately 430km (270 mi) from Tyumen. Tyumen is the Siberian energy center. Gazprom reported that the Yamburg–Yelets 1 pipeline was depressurized and then set ablaze.

“There were no casualties. Gazprom quoted Tass as saying that the depressurization took place when the section of the gas pipeline was shut off for repairs. It was not connected with gas transportation.

The statement stated that “Consumers were being fully suppled by gas via parallel pipes”, adding that the cause of this incident was unknown. Tass previously quoted a local official as saying that the pipeline caught fire after an explosion.
