Fuel depot ablaze near key Crimea bridge in Russia

Videos posted on Russian social media showed flames and black fumes billowing from large tanks with red warnings “Flammable”.

VeniaminKondratyev stated that the fire had been classified on Telegram as being of the highest difficulty level, and that no injuries were reported.

Kondratyev has confirmed that the fire started in Volna. The village is near the Crimean Bridge that crosses the Kerch Strait. The bridge links the mainland to the Crimean Peninsula, which was annexed in 2014 by Russia.

This incident happened just days after a Russian oil depot in Sevastopol in Crimea was destroyed by a drone in what Moscow considered a Ukrainian attack.

Ukraine did not claim responsibility for the Sevastopol attack, as it has done since the start of the conflict on February 20, 2022.

However, the Ukrainian military said that undermining Russia’s logisticwas a part of preparations for a counteroffensive. The new delivery of powerful Western weapons would help in this.

In the Russian region Bryansk, near Ukraine, explosions derailled a train on Monday. It is the second such incident in two days. Russian officials claim pro-Ukrainian group have been committing sabotage in the area since the start of hostilities.
