Yevgeny Prgozhin, whose forces spent months trying capture the eastern Ukraine town of Bakhmut (, pictured), said he didn’t want to “spoil Russia’s Victory Day Parade set for 0700 GMT and that he would reveal more information afterwards.
“The people that were supposed to fulfill the (shipment orders) have not yet, in the last day, fulfilled them,” Prigozhin stated in a video posted on the messaging application Telegram.
He said late on Monday that preliminary data indicated his troops had begun to receive the ammunition. However, he cautioned they ” have not seen it in action“.
The President Vladimir Putin will address the crowd at the Red Square Military Parade, which is one of Russia’s favorite public events. It marks the 45th anniversary of the defeat by Nazi Germany.
On Sunday (7th May), Ukraine’s military promised to stop Moscow making a last push to try and capture the ruined Bakhmut city, denying Putin his prize for an expensive winter offensive just in time for the holiday on Tuesday.
