WATCH: Space debris fireball lights up Japan skies

The fireball seen in the southern part of Japan could have been caused due to space debris from Chinese rockets.

The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan reported that it observed the incident around 11:00 local time (16:00 BST).

The movement of the objects indicated that it was not a’meteorite, but looked exactly like the entry of debris into the atmosphere from a rocket. This could have been from a Chinese launch from November.

It was predicted that the space junk would land in a sea, and posed little danger to local residents.
