The order for tanks will cost EUR525.6m while the price of the howitzers is EUR190.7m. All of these are due to be delivered to the parliament by 2026.
This purchase also includes an option to buy another 105 tanks at a cost of approximately EUR 2,9 billion.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine last year, Germany has provided 18 Leopard 2 tanks. It has stated that it will fill the gap as soon as possible with new tanks.
The German parliament approved a plan in March for the defence ministry to purchase up to 28 replacement howitzers.
The Leopard and howitzers were jointly produced by KMW ( RHMG.DE ) and Rheinmetall
