Russia’s newest nuclear submarine to move to permanent Pacific base

The Generalissimo Suvoro V entered service in 2022 and can carry up to 16 Russian Bulava missiles with nuclear tips, each of which is capable of carrying more than one nuclear weapon.

The state news agency TASS reported that the submarine Generalissimo Svorov would make an inter-naval transfer from the Northern Fleet to the Pacific Fleet, citing a military source. The transition will take place along the Northern Sea Route including from a submerged position.

Russia has been strengthening its defences along its border with Asia-Pacific in the vast regions of its far east. It accuses the U.S.

Russian media reported that the Generalissimo will be used to reinforce the Russian Pacific Fleet’s nuclear submarine force at the Rybachiy base in the Kamchatka peninsula.

Russian news agencies reported that the submarine was the sixth of a class of smaller, stealthier Russian submarines called Borei. The submarines will replace previous ballistic missile subs in the country.
