Executive Vice-President Šefčovič represented the Commission on 23 October at the first Saudi-EU Investment Forum on the theme ‘Fostering Economic Integration & Prosperity’, co-hosted by the EU and the Ministry of Investment of Saudi Arabia. The Executive vice president delivered a speech during the opening ceremony, where he highlighted the EU’s interest in further co-operating with Saudi Arabia – as well as with the other countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. We aim to enhance trade and investment flows, support the stability of the respective business and investment environments, and further promote the integration of our economies.
The forum addressed topics such as manufacturing, SMEs, transportation and infrastructure, and energy. The “EU Joint Communication on the strategic Partnership with the Gulf” and the joint participation in the “India – Middle East – Europe Economic Corridor” were also integral part of the discussions, offering great potential for closer economic links. This bilateral Investment forum will enhance the EU- Saudi Arabia cooperation on investment, energy and clean tech, critical raw materials, supply chains and connectivity, promoting sustainable growth.
